Structure of the tetramer of α‐methylstyrene

Abstract

Abstract The structure of the tetrameric dianion formed by α‐methylstyrene in tetrahydrofuran by reaction with sodium has been examined. Mass spectral, NMR, infrared, and kinetic data all indicate that the structure is magnified image rather than the structure magnified image which had previously been assumed for this species.
