An Effective Synthetic Principle for Amino Sugars of the Daunosamine Type

Abstract

Daunosamine and its configurational isomers are of interest as sugar components of antineoplastic anthracyclines such as (1), R1=H, R2=OH. A new synthetic route has been developed for these amino sugars in order to prepare model compounds.
