The performance and capabilities of a bistatic spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) are analyzed, where the transmitter and receiver are in different orbits. Such a configuration may be optimized for a broad range of applications like frequent monitoring, wide swath imaging, single-pass cross-track interferometry, along-track interferometry, resolution enhancement or radar tomography.
