Hepatic granulomas from mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni for periods of 8 weeks to 1 year studied by electron microscopy. The different cell types present in the granulomas suggested that whilst a delayed hypersensitivity response predominated during early stages of infection an Arthus-type reaction associated with delayed hypersensitivity occurred at later stages of infection.
