In southern California waters, during MarchApril 1991, the average mature female jack mackerel, Truchurus symmetricus, spawned every 5 days, and eight percent of the females spawned at 1-3 day intervals. The average relative batch fecundity was 112 oocytes per gram female weight (without ovary). Batch fecundity was lower for females that had spawned within the last 3 days than for females in which no evidence existed for a previous spawning.
