Tissue Thyroid Hormone Levels in Critical Illness

Abstract

Our results suggest that, in addition to changes in the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis, tissue-specific mechanisms are involved in the reduced supply of bioactive thyroid hormone in critical illness.
