STUDIES ON PENTENOMYCINS. I

Abstract

Two new antibiotics, pentenomycins I and II have been isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces eurythermus MCRL 0738 as a white hygroscopic amorphous powder. Pentenomycins [I: C6H8O4•1/2H2O (I), II: C8H10O5•1/2H2O (II)] are moderately active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
