Abstract

Milk replacers eontMning untreated, acidtreated, or alkali-treated soy flour and whole milk were fed to a calf having a re-entrant duodenal fistula. Analysis of digesta collected from the proximal cannula for eight hours after feeding revealed no differences among the soy flour diets with respect to volume and pI-I or in the rate of passage of dry matter and total nitrogen. The passage of dry matter and total nitrogen was more rapid for the soy flour diets than for milk, whereas ptI declined more rapidly after feeding milk than after the soy flour diets.
