Abstract

This paper deals with the role of policies in the management of large complex systems. An approach is suggested for the transformation of policy statements into executable process decision functions; and, an architecture is outlined to help organize the elements of policy in a manageable way. To illustrate the concepts, an example is given from information processing that conveys more concretely the manner in which this architecture can be applied to policy management, Tools are introduced to deploy a policy management system.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
