Diffusion-weighted MR imaging in hypertensive encephalopathy: clues to pathogenesis.

Abstract

Diffusion-weighted MR imaging shows that the edema in hypertensive encephalopathy is of vasogenic origin and does not represent ischemia or infarction. This finding may have therapeutic implications.
