Diabetes and Progression of Carotid Atherosclerosis

Abstract

Progression of carotid atherosclerosis is accelerated in persons with diabetes. Progression of ICA IMT is most pronounced in persons with undiagnosed diabetes. Early identification of diabetes and CVD risk factor control might reduce its atherosclerotic complications.
