Exposure to stavudine and didanosine was significantly associated with a heightened risk for symptomatic sensory neuropathy. Reduced vibration thresholds and epidermal nerve fiber densities had the highest diagnostic efficiency of the laboratory indicators of neuropathy examined, but were relatively insensitive in isolation.
