The relative accuracy of the Lachman test and the anterior drawer sign was compared in 107 knee joints with ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament. In examining an acutely injured knee in a patient without anesthesia, the Lachman test was superior to the anterior drawer sign, but, in chronic injuries, both the tests had high diagnostic accuracy.
