SUMMARY: The percentage guanine + cytosine (GC) content of the DNA of 19 serotype strains of Staphylococcus aureus determined from melting temperatures (T m) and the E 260/E 280 ratio at pH 3 ranged from 30·2 to 35% GC, average 32·5% GC.
