On the Classification of Extremal $[36,18,8]$ Binary Self-Dual Codes

Abstract

<para xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> In this correspondence, we give a new recursive method to classify extremal self-dual codes. As an application we classify all the 41 extremal binary <emphasis><formula formulatype="inline"><tex>$[36,18,8]$</tex></formula></emphasis> self-dual codes. </para>
