SummaryThe potential use of the sex-linked dwarf gene in the broiler industry is discussed from published results. It is suggested that the gain from such utilization is positive if the whole of the cycle of breeding and broiler raising is considered. The factors contributing to the benefits to be expected from the use of dwarf breeder females and research remaining to be carried out are discussed. Some possible disadvantages are mentioned.
