Dual-polarized ring lasers

Abstract

Simultaneous laser oscillation of four nondegenerate polarization and propagation direction eigenstates of a single TEM <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">00</inf> mode was observed in a ring laser cavity. The observed polarization and frequency properties of the ring laser were analyzed in terms of the Jones matrix calculus.
