We report the structure and optical properties of a new Cu–cysteamine complex with a formula of Cu<sub>3</sub>Cl(SR)<sub>2</sub> (R = CH<sub>2</sub>CH<sub>2</sub>NH<sub>2</sub>), which shows intense luminescence upon UV or X-ray excitation.
