We conclude that apoCI is crucially involved in LPS-induced atherosclerosis in apoe-/- mice, which mainly relates to an increased inflammatory response toward LPS. We anticipate that apoCI plasma levels contribute to accelerated atherosclerosis development in individuals who have chronic infection.
