Abstract

Abstract The chemistry of an alkylstrontium halide analogue was examined. In the presence of metallic strontium, the Barbier‐type alkylation of esters with alkyl iodides proceeded smoothly at room temperature, under argon, to afford the corresponding dialkylated alcohols in good yields.
