• Eight cases of streptococcal meningitis occurred after myelography with metrizamide or iophendylate injection. These cases were compared with six previously described episodes of lumbar puncture—related streptococcal meningitis. Careful examination of Gram's stain of CSF, positive in 79% of the cases, was useful as an aid in distinguishing streptococcal meningitis from the more common aseptic chemical meningitis induced by contrast media used in myelography.
