FURTHER OBSERVATIONS INCONSISTENT WITH THE HYPOTHESIS THAT THE MOLYBDENUM BLUE METHOD MEASURES ORTHOPHOSPHATE IN LAKE WATER1

Abstract

The results of three different observations can be explained by postulating that the concentration of inorganic phosphate in lake water is much lower than indicated by the molybdenum blue test. Hydrolysis of organic phosphorus compounds is suspected to be a source of error.
