Abstract

Outlandish: The spiroketal embedded in spirastrellolide F methyl ester is a daring site for ring closure, yet it has allowed the power of catalytic alkyne scission and activation to be showcased (see scheme). An improved strategy for the introduction of the labile side chain was also developed. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as ”Supporting Information”.
