The Effects of Smoking Bans on Extended Care Units at State Psychiatric Hospitals

Abstract

Findings suggest that given administrative commitment and accessible outdoor areas, banning smoking in state-operated psychiatric hospitals is feasible, safe, and beneficial to the milieu. A smoking ban is less difficult to implement and maintain than generally anticipated.
