Abstract Intraventricular macrophages were observed with the scanning electron microscope on the choroid plexus in developing rat brains. Cell membrane configurations of these large, epiplexus cells (8‐10 μm) were typified by folds, flange‐like surface projections and long, thin pseudopodia interdigitating with subjacent brain cell microvilli; discrete, periodic enlargements were observed at intervals along the pseudopodial processes.
