Abstract Local pyrolusite ore from Om‐Bogma, Sinai, has been treated by sulfuric acid leaching process using either sawdust (C 6 H 10 O 5 ) n or lactose (C 12 H 22 O 11 ) as reducing agent to produce manganese sulfate. The manganese recoveries were 92.5 and 90.5% at sawdust and lactose respectively.
