Objective. To determine the relationship among the areas of financial welfare, friendships, neighbourhood and community, couple, family life, leisure, communication media, religion and quality of life and three factors of a healthy life style (sports, food consumption and sleep and rest) in Health Sciences students in the city of Lima, Perú. Method. Descriptive, correlational design carried out with 198 health professionals, Master’s and Doctorate students. The instruments used were the Olson and Barnes Quality of Life Scale (1982) and a Healthy Life-Style Questionnaire especially designed for this study. Results. No correlation was found between the quality of life and sporting activity. A positive correlation was found between health and eating habits in the youngest age group. Moderate correlations were observed between some areas of the quality of life (friends, family life, leisure and religion) and sleep and rest in the groups receiving between USD719 and USD1436. With respect to the neighbourhood, moderate correlations were found in the group which earned up to USD 718 and non-medical professionals. Conclusion. The findings of the study show that there is a close relationship between sleep and quality of life, although further research is necessary with other sample groups.
