The second edition of *Child Psychiatry: Modern Approaches* expands and revises the original text, broadening its scope to cover major principles of child development, developmental psychopathology, clinical syndromes from infancy to adolescence, and multimodal treatment, and serves as the field’s primary resource. Each chapter has been updated and expanded, incorporating a wider range of international contributors and reflecting major changes in the field.
Nine years after the publication of the first edition of<i>Child Psychiatry: Modern Approaches</i>, Rutter and Hersov have published a greatly expanded and totally revised second edition. Even the title reflects its broadened scope. As was true for the first edition, the second edition will be the resource text for the field. Each chapter has been updated and revised. Sections have been expanded and reflect major changes in the field. The breadth of authors now reflects a broader representation of international contributors. And, finally, the subject matter covers the major principles and theories of child development, the contributions of developmental psychopathology research, the clinical syndromes extending from infancy through adolescence, and multimodal treatment approaches. Clearly, this is an international and interdisciplinary labor of love.
