Abstract

The pentatomoid family Cyrtocoridae Distant 1880 is revised. The family occurs only in the Neotropics, from Argentina north through central Mexico. Several features ally the family with others grouped around the Cydnidae. Other features, including those of the nymphs' tergal plates, the venation of both wings, and the placement of the abdominal trichobothria, confirm the familyrank status of Cyrtocoridae. We recognize the following 4 genera and 11 species: Ceratozygum horridum (Germar), Cyphothyrea erosa Horvath, Cyrtocoris andicola Horvath, C. egeris new species,
