Design and probe based measurement of 77 GHz antennas for antenna in package applications

Abstract

The development and the measurement of two planar antenna structures is presented. These antennas are prospective candidates for the integration into compact millimeter-wave packages for 77 GHz automotive Radar applications. The antennas were manufactured using only one metal layer on top of a 127 µm Alumina substrate. Gain, radiation pattern and Return Loss of the antennas are characterised using a novel probe based measurement setup.
