Abstract

In the lamb, the ductus arteriosus does not close immediately after birth, but the direction of blood flow through it reverses. In the newborn lamb, therefore, blood normally flows from the aorta, through the ductus arteriosus, to the lungs (Born et al., 1955c; Dawes et al., 1955 a and b).
