Homocysteine Induces Expression and Secretion of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 and Interleukin-8 in Human Aortic Endothelial Cells

Abstract

Pathophysiological levels of L-homocysteine alter endothelial cell function by upregulating MCP-1 and IL-8 expression and secretion. This suggests that L-homocysteine may contribute to the initiation and progression of vascular disease by promoting leukocyte recruitment.
