On the surface of it: Experimental and computational analyses for a hybrid peptide–substrate system showed that changing the position of a proline residue in synthetic peptides changes their adsorption onto semiconductors substantially and predictably (see picture with a Si(100) surface). Such information is essential for the formation of novel peptide–solid interfaces for nanotechnological applications. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as ”Supporting Information”. Such documents are peer-reviewed, but not copy-edited or typeset.
