Positron studies of vacancy clustering in deformed aluminium

Abstract

Clustering of vacancies during annealing of plastically deformed aluminium is studied by means of positron annihilation.. Clusters are observed to form in spite of the presence of a large density of sinks for vacancies. The sinks, however, influence the annealing process.
