Simultaneous usage of multiple channels in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETS) has strong impacts on the communication range of the adjacent channel caused by adjacent channel interference (ACI). This is a big issue in dual radio environments where the distance between the interfering and receiving radio is low. To enhance the communication range on the service channel 2 (SCH2) while using the adjacent control channel (CCH) simultaneously we introduce 3CSMA/CA. It allows to synchronize the transmissions on SCH2 regarding a defined radius of relevance by tracking signal strength of ongoing transmissions on CCH. We present the advantages of 3CSMA/CA by varying node density based on simulations and show the benefit in case no synchronization is applied.
