Oriented nucleation of CaCo3 from metastable solutions under Langmuir monolayers

Abstract

The nucleation of CaCO3 crystals from metastable solutions under Langmuir monolayers has been shown to be enhanced in the order, docosanoate > octadecylamine > octadecanol > control. Crystals nucleated under monolayers containing charged headgroups were preferentially oriented.
