Abstract An automatic remeshing scheme has been developed to enable finite element simulation of complicated forming processes. In order to avoid the tedious procedures of interrupting the analysis, performing rediscretization, mapping of current state variables and preparing the new set of boundary conditions, a fully automatic remeshing method is described. The different steps of this method are presented with the help of one industrial example.
