Sequential analyses of neurobiochemical markers of cerebral damage in cerebrospinal fluid and serum in CNS infections

Abstract

S-100B is altered in CNS infection but does not provide additional benefit in the differential diagnosis when compared with standard CSF parameters. Nevertheless, S-100B values might be used as an additional monitoring parameter especially when sequential lumbar punctures are contraindicated.
