Leukaemia inhibitory factor retards the progression of atherosclerosis

Abstract

LIF prevents progression of pre-formed atherosclerotic plaques, affecting lesion size and vascular reactivity. LIF treatment has differential effects within the artery wall, depending on the presence or absence of de-endothelialisation injury.
