Male lambs born during the normal lambing season (February) or during the nonlambing period (October) received a daily injection of CB 154 from the 10th week after birth until the 21st week. This treatment resulted in a highly significant decrease in the concentration of prolactin in the plasma, but did not affect LH or testosterone level. There was no significant decrease in testis weight in the treated animals and the establishment of spermatogenesis was not delayed by the treatment. On the other hand, there was a marked decrease in the weight of the seminal vesicles and in their fructose concentration. This result indicates that prolactin may play a role in the secretory activity of these glands in the male lamb.
