Deficiencies in Patients’ Comprehension of Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Therapy

Abstract

Despite preimplantation education, patient comprehension of the risks and benefits of ICD therapy is poor. Patients' expectations of ICD therapy may be inappropriate. Education strategies before and after implantation require improvement.
