Abstract

Calcium-dependent contractile reserve is depressed in myocytes from rats with postinfarction heart failure. Long-term growth hormone therapy increases contractile reserve by restoring normal augmentation of systolic [Ca2+]i in myocytes from rats with postinfarction heart failure.
