Several developmental malformations of the spinal cord in cattle have been reported [2-41. The defects may be grouped into abnormalities of the central canal by number, size and shape, longitudinal cannular cavitations of the spinal cord parenchyma, partial or complete duplication of segments of the spinal cord, and duplication or displacement of grey matter. Spinal cord defects often are associated with spina bifida, postural anomalies of the vertebrae such as kyphoscoliosis or lordosis, internal hydrocephalus, Arnold-Chiari malformation and arthrogryposis [3, 4, 71.
