GoldGold Interaction—Stannaborate [SnB₁₁H₁₁]²⁻ Coordination Chemistry

Abstract

A stannaborate bridge supports the goldgold interaction in the product (see picture) of the reaction of [SnB11H11]2− with [(Ph3P)AuCl]. A significant preference for the dimer [(Me3P)Au(SnB11H11)]22− over the two monomers [(Me3P)Au(SnB11H11)]− (ΔE=160 kJ mol−1) was demonstrated on the basis of MP2 calculations.
