Zimelidine, a selective serotonergic (5HT) reuptake blocker, is a clinically effective antidepressant. However, its rapid action on reuptake is in apparent discrepancy with its delayed clinical efficacy, and data on the effect of its chronic administration on 5-HT neurotransmission have never been provided.
