Abstract. Virus was isolated from the brain and pancreatic tissues of Atlantic menhaden with ‘spinning’ disease. The biological, physical and chemical properties of the isolate were similar to those of infectious pancreatic necrosis virus. Inoculation of the virus into healthy menhaden resulted in the characteristic signs and mortality associated with the natural disease.
