Abstract

This letter describes a direct-sequence spread-spectrum superregenerative receiver operating at 2.4 GHz and using a simple PN code synchronization loop. The receiver minimizes overall complexity by using a single signal processing path for data detection and PN code synchronization. An analytical description of the loop dynamics is presented, and the conditions for optimum performance are examined. Experimental results confirm the receiver's ability to perform acquisition and tracking, achieving a sensitivity of -97 dBm and an input dynamic range of 45 dB. The RF part consumes 0.9 mA at a supply voltage of 3 V.
