A proteolytic enzyme derived from the bacterium Streptomyces fradiae has been applied on to wool in an attempt to improve its shrink‐resistance properties. The influence of enzyme concentration and treatment time in the improvement of felting shrinkage in different washing cycles has been determined. The extent of attack on the fibre was also measured.
