The synthesis, characterization, and performance of two vanadium‐molybdenum oxides, and , and their glasses in rechargeable lithium cells employing a in methyl formate electrolyte is presented. Excellent capacities ranging from 700 Wh/kg (first cycle) to 400 Wh/kg (thirtieth cycle) (based on active materials) are observed with both vanadium‐molybdenum oxides. Use of the network‐former results in amorphous materials which display higher energy densities and superior capacity retention upon extended cycling.
