The innervation of the smaller arterial vessels and capillaries of the guinea-pig atria was examined with the electron microscope. The terminal arterioles and the arteriolar capillaries were found to have a dense innervation, as did the true capillaries. An encapsulated arteriole — nerve complex has been described and its possible function as a pressure receptor discussed.
